Gray Matter Versus White Matter
Studies have proven that men’s and women’s brains process and function differently. In fact while a man generally has 6 times more gray matter than a woman, women have 10 times more white matter. What does that mean? Think of a computer…gray matter is the brain’s processing centers. White matter are the connections between those processing centers.
Do Men Have More Processing Power Than Women?
Using the computer analogy, men generally have 6 times more processing power, but generally only use one side of their brain at a time. Women have 10 times more connections between processing centers allowing them to use both sides of their brain at the same time and making their brains much more efficient.
Is one better than the other? No, women and men are smart. But the way they use their brains is different. In fact, one researcher studying the brains of men and women said they were so different that if you didn’t know what you were looking at you could come to the conclusion that the brains were from different species. I’m sure there is a woman out there reading this saying “I knew it”!
